WHAT TO EXPECT

Scalloping is probably not what you think!

Scalloping is basically Easter egg hunting under water. You find them with a mask and snorkel and use your hands to pick them up...its that easy! We normally scallop in 3-4 feet of water and you can usually stand up. The water is typically very, very clear! A good day of scalloping would be catching 30-50 scallops per person.

Snorkeling Gear

PSJ Scallop Charters will provide you with a mask, snorkel, fins and mesh bag to stow your bounty!

great table fair!

Scallops are recognized as one of the sweetest, most succulent and highly sought after seafood around the world. Port Saint Joe scallops are smaller bay scallops that CANNOT be harvested commercially. That means the only way to get your hands on this amazing shellfish is to catch them yourself!

Where do we meet?

The captain will meet you with the boat at the public boat launch the morning of your scheduled scallop charter. The boat will have ice for your drinks and will be ready for you in the waterbefore you arrive. The boat launch is less than 5 minutes away if you are staying in the cottage here on our site.

How do I clean my scallops?

Cleaning over a hundred scallops can be a daunting task for someone who is new to the experience. However, it is actually very easy. There are many YouTube videos that can show you how to clean scallops with just a small knife.

**The captain can also be hired to clean your scallops for you**
